I would like to introduce myself. I’m an artist who currently is interested in painting colorful abstract art. I use oil, acrylic, watercolor, mixed media, and whatever seems right for the composition. I’ve been an artist all my life and clearly remember when my mom gave my sister and me permission to paint a mural on the bathroom wall.

I currently live in Southern Oregon but grew up in Southern California. I’ve lived many years in Northern California and in every place I’ve lived I’ve taken art classes, participated in life drawing groups, learned drawing, painting, and composition. I’ve exhibited my art in group shows, featured artist events, art festivals, and art galleries.

I also love to create paintings of figures or faces and find the right color tone or value to create a feeling of warmth, sentiment, or a universal feeling that we humans all share is my goal. I start sometimes with photos of my sisters, or my daughter, or my mother and her sisters, my grandmother. The painting evolves as I add layers of paint sometimes to the point of abstraction, but always with the idea that this figure represents something I could not articulate. I use color, texture, shape to portray these feelings.

Recently I’ve begun a course in women’s self-portraits which began with a history of women’s self-portraits and women artists in general, and the lack of mention in the art history books. I’ve included a section on this website called, Herstory, to list some of these women throughout history whose work has been unrecognized, credited to others, or destroyed. I have included a brief history and references in case anyone would like to find out more about these artists.

My intension for this website is to showcase for sale my latest paintings and drawings, to have a space to present my experimental work, and to honor the women artists who came before me and those who are currently working who inspire me and influence me and allow be to be proud to be a woman artist.
